How to Take Care of Our Organic Cotton Knitwear

Knitwear Care That’s Easy, Gentle on Clothes and Friendly Towards Nature

With the temperatures dropping steadily, knitwear is back in heavy rotation. As frequent wear also means more washing, we’re sharing with you a simple guide to knitwear care. This way, our knitted pieces can keep you company for as long as possible and see you through all the different seasons.

Here at Mila.Vert, we like to keep things hassle-free. Sustainable materials and a responsible production go hand in hand with nature-friendly clothing care guidelines – and they're everything but inconvenient.

Here’s what you should bear in mind.

  • Not every clothing item needs a wash after being worn once or twice. Natural organic fabrics like cotton can be aired between wears and still feel fresh on the skin the next time you put them on.
  • When clothes do need a wash, make sure you use natural, organic laundry detergent. There is an increasing number of efficient as well as budget-friendly brands available on the market.
  • Look for eco-friendly certificates. There’s many of them depending on your location, for example USDA Certified Bio-Based, EU EcoLabel, EcoCert (natural & organic ingredients), Leaping Bunny (no animal testing).
  • When it comes to fabric softeners, there is actually little to no need for them, so you can simply skip them. Not only can they ruin clothing items in the long run, they may also be unsafe for you and the environment due to their ingredients.
  • Use low-temperature, eco programmes to save energy and water.
  • All our clothing can be washed with similar colours at 30°C and 40°C. There’s no need to worry about damaging anything – our knitwear is washing-machine-safe.
  • When it comes to drying, if you can, air-dry your clothes. Our knitted items prefer to be laid flat to dry to avoid stretching.
  • Alternatively, you can use a clothes dryer if you have one – a dryer will also help if your knits stretch slightly due to normal wear. In fact, our knitwear comes out of the drying machine even fluffier and softer than it went in, so don’t hesitate to give this option a go if you can.

This is it – we hope your knits become your trusted companions for years to come. If you have any specific questions, we’re always happy to help over at info@milavert.com.
