Fashion Revolution Week is here and we’re once again asking the fashion industry #whomademyclothes.
As much as we love fashion, it cannot be denied that the fashion industry must undergo massive changes in the way it treats its people and the environment through every step of the production. It begins with a conscious consumer and continues all the way up the supply chain – we have the power to change the system for the better.
Every year around 24th April, the world remembers the collapse of Rana Plaza, a Bangladesh garment factory. In the accident, over 1,100 people died and 2,500 were injured, making this the 4th largest industrial disaster in modern history.
As a sustainable brand, we do everything in our power to prevent such events taking place ever again. For this reason, we only produce our clothing with sustainable and certified organic fabrics, a locally-based production and a transparent supply chain.
When you ask #whomademyclothes, we can tell you it was Saša, Dušan, Mirjam, Marlena, Nina, Mateja, Darja, Mojca, Jani and others who do their job in optimal working conditions where no exploitations or violations of any kind are present, and are paid a fair living wage for their work. Read more about our sustainable production.
What else can we do? Act responsibly and ask questions!
Supporting sustainable brands who offer an alternative to fast fashion is the key to transforming the fashion system. Taking the time and shopping mindfully saves resources and eliminates hasty investments. Only buying what you need, wearing what you have for as long as possible, mending and upcycling damaged pieces, thrifting and exchanging are all revolutionary acts in a fast fashion system.
All that glitters is not gold … and all that’s green is not actually sustainable. Be careful with big brands claiming they use natural dyes, conscious fabrics and recycled materials. They often forget to mention this only pertains to a fraction of their products and focus solely on the materials they use, not the people and the environment involved in the production processes. Ask them about it! This way we make them realize we care about everything – people, animals and the planet.
Here’s to a fairer fashion system we’re creating everyday thanks to you.
The team behind the brand is slowly but surely growing too. Tina, the founder and chief designer, is now joined by Barbara, our head of marketing and graphic design, Vida, our copyrighter and sales assistant, Katka, who's responsible for PR, media communication and influencer marketing as well as modelling, and Bernarda, who manages our order production and assists at graphic design. We are few, but fierce and multitalented! :)

With love,
the Mila.Vert team - Tina, Vida, Barbara, Katka and Bernarda
