Remember our gorgeous faux suede collection of accessories? The accessories both you and us loved so much? The faux suede material is not what we thought it was. We were greenwashed.
Two years ago, we put so much thought into researching the best materials, testing them, creating the designs, trying out the samples and finally settling on the final products. We loved everything about them – and so did you.
But it wasn’t what we thought it was
Unfortunately, there has been a misunderstanding and a huge mistake made by the company that produces the material. We were assured numerous times that the faux suede we were using is made from recycled polyester, but were now notified that it is in fact made from 55% polyamide and 45% polyurethane. Some of the company’s other materials are indeed recycled – but sadly not the one we’ve been using for two years. The material does of course not comply with our sustainability standards. But what to do now? There are still some accessories available in our studio and we still have some leftover material.
Here’s what we’ve decided to do
After giving it much thought and discussing the situation again and again, we have decided not to discard neither the accessories nor the material we have in stock. Both the accessories and the material are already here and available – not using them would be the least sustainable option.
We immediately removed the products from our website, got in touch with the customers who had bought them prior to that and offered to find a suitable solution. If there’s anyone we haven’t contacted, please get in touch with us and we will find a way for a compensation.
Our faux suede collection at discounted prices
We stand behind the fact that our faux suede accessories are high-quality products. The material is durable and well-made, and all of our accessories are hand-made ethically in Slovenia, EU by Andreja, a local craftswoman. The prices were lowered to still cover the cost of production and ensure everyone involved a fair payment. The products will keep their shape and beautiful look – this means you can continue using them for years to come.
New products from the leftover material
We are testing the leftover material to come up with sustainable solutions of how to put it to the best use – for now, we’ve made small, but oh-so-useful key pouches to carry all your bits and bobs, coins or cards, keys, tokens, hairbands, a lip balm or anything else you might need daily. Discover the new product from repurposed leftover material here.
Sustainability is a journey, not a destination
We believe that there is no such thing as 100% sustainability – everything we do will inevitably have at least a minor impact. What we can do is make the impact positive. We’re always evolving and always learning – and we thank you for being on this journey with us.
