Inspired by yesterday, made for a conscious tomorrow
Knitting is one of the oldest textile crafts: simple tools, continuous yarn and human hands have turned thread into garments for centuries. From ancient Egypt to medieval Europe, knitting has been an integral part of fashion history for millennia. With the invention of mechanical knitting machines in 16th-century England, knitting became faster and more industrial.

Here in Slovenia – small in size but rich in craft – people have long worked with wool, flax and other fibres. Traditional knit and lace techniques were maintained by local artisans, and textile workshops and small mills became part of our industrial and cultural history. Centuries of development later, our local region became an important part of the Yugoslavian textile industry, a proud chapter of craftsmanship, innovation and independence.

Women played a central role in this story: they made up a significant portion of the workforce, were encouraged to become economically independent and, within the progressive Yugoslav framework, were among the first in the world to vote and shape their society’s future.
Mila.Vert continues this living tradition. We favour small batches, conscious materials and skilled local makers, creating pieces made to last and be cherished from season to season. When you wear our knits, you’re part of a long line of makers and wearers, ensuring that this story of craft and independence carries on.
